About

I thought doing something like the following would tell you more about me than any biographical information ever could. My original attempt for this sort of self-portrait turned out way too long, with twenty items in every list. It didn’t really serve its purpose of painting a picture, so I thought I would tighten it up a bit and limit it to five.

Five Favorite Fantasy Stories

  1. The Lord of the Rings (novels and books)
  2. The Wheel of Time (novels)
  3. Conan (various)
  4. Lone Wolf (books)
  5. The Crow (movies)

*Dune could be on this list also, it’s as much fantasy as science fiction. Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess are alternates. So is the original Clash of the Titans, although you could argue that those are all mythology and not fantasy. A new entry would be Sabriel by Garth Nix.

Five Favorite Sci-Fi Stories

  1. Dune (novels and movies I suppose)
  2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (various)
  3. Highlander TV series
  4. X-Men/Wolverine (various)
  5. Fringe

Godzilla franchise would be an alternate. So would Battle Angel Alita.

Five Non-F&SF Stories

  1. Brules (Western novel)
  2. Romeo and Juliet (the play and the 1968 movie)
  3. Manon of the Spring (1986 movie)
  4. James Bond (Ian Fleming’s novels and the movies)
  5. Desperado (movie)

Memoirs of a Geisha would be an alternate. And, of course, the poem Eldorado by Edgar Allen Poe.

Five Favorite Video Games

  1. The Legend of Zelda
  2. Final Fantasy
  3. Dragon Quest
  4. Metroid
  5. Lunar: The Silver Star Story

*The Nier series would be an alternate. So would the original Street Fighter games. And Donkey Kong franchise.

Five Favorite Anime

  1. Cowboy Bebop
  2. Neon Genesis Evangelion
  3. The Vision of Escaflowne
  4. Dragon Ball Z
  5. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

*Dagashi Kashi would be an alternate. So would Yu Yu Hakusho.
