I originally had a very formal statement here modeled after big websites, full of legalese and very important sounding. But I decided against using it and just writing this plain English statement instead.
Partly the reason I did this is that I am not a big website or a big brand, this is just a personal blog, and therefore I do not believe that it is a public accommodation as contemplated by the Americans with Disabilities Act. So it’s kind of stupid for me to treat it like it is, and if there is one thing this blog seeks to eschew it’s stupidity.
But I still wanted to make a statement because I am trying to make this site as accessible to everyone of my own accord, just as a matter of normal consideration. I want everyone to be able to visit the site and access the content. I’m not sure that I can do that for everyone, but I am trying.
In that pursuit, I am relying on the W.C.A.G., or the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. This site is kind of overwhelming though.
I would like to just have you email me with suggestions but that opens me up to certain liabilities concerning the treatment of medical information and privacy concerns so I actually ask you not to do that. If you do, I’m just going to immediately delete it without a response. Instead, lobby for your accommodation or suggestion to be included in the W.C.A.G. guidelines and then I will learn about it from there.
Realize that the extent of my tech skills is limited to operating a WordPress website and using plugins, but I will do what I can.
